One Direction was formed when the boys auditioned as soloists on the X Factor UK Season 7. However, they did not make it to the boys category in the judges house. Since they boys were TOO good to drop, Simon Cowell decided to put them in a band, on the suggestion of the guest appearance of Nicole Scherzinger .
One Direction grew popular in UK, day by day, while they were still on the X Factor UK. One Directions had made the finals on the X Factor, and came in third place. However, after X Factor was over One Direction signed to Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records!
Then, it happened, One direction's first single, "What makes you beautiful"! One Direction released their first single on September 11th 2011! Then their journey continued. One Direction, One Band, One Dream!
